This is my kitchen floor. I am sharing a picture with you because, well, it is clean.
I scrubbed the floor this weekend and took the picture immediately after the floor was dry.
It is no longer this clean. As a matter of fact, ten minutes after the photo, it was no longer clean.
So, please, revel in the clean-ness of this floor with me.
Ahhh, yes. So clean.

Lest you think this post is simply me overindulging on my momentarily, brilliantly clean kitchen floor, I will share some other corners of my kitchen.
Big batches of utensils. They are on the counter for the practical reason that we don't have drawer space for them. But I like that many of them are hand me downs or wedding gifts from different family members, so it is a treat to be reminded of them throughout the day. The red salt pig was a present to my Honey.
Cloth towels. We decided about a year ago to basically eliminate paper towels. It was an amazing decision! I never realized how much less trash we would generate simply by not using paper towels. We did invest in a couple dozen cloths that get washed every few days. I do keep a few rolls of paper towels on hand for some very specific jobs. But otherwise -- we are cloth around here!
And the hand-thrown pottery bowl holding the towels was crafted by my father-in-law. How great is that?
My husband gave me this coffee mug shortly after we started dating. Love it still!
This little corner may be my favorite spot in the house. For years I had thought about exactly what I wanted and needed to fill this area. It was the #1 project on the nesting list before Sister was born. Now we have space for coats, boots, hats, diaper bag, purse, shoes, book bags, and all kinds of odds and ends that make their way into the house.
The "snack" table is used for everything, from snack, to breakfast, to art, to kid-height baking, to projects, to reading with Poppy, to sometimes a campy dinner.
And about that orange wall. A dream fulfilled!
My Mom, who is quite a seamstress,
whipped-up these curtains, after the fabric languished here for awhile. I willingly handed it over, knowing she would deliver the perfect,
perfect window treatment!
The cook-book shelf is overflowing! Mostly used by my husband, but one I regularly use is
Martha Stewart's Cookies. If you are a foodie, you likely already have the
Food Lover's Companion. As you can see, ours is well worn because it is an amazing compendium of interesting, helpful and simply fun information about food. If you don't have either, and have the slightest interest in eating, check them out.
It was
love at first sight with this cookie jar. So much so that I carefully packed it and carried it around England with me for days when Honey and I visited there 15 years ago. I adored the design so much that later that same year we contacted the artist and bought a tea pot to match. The smaller tea pot in front is a map of London, simply reminding us of the fun places we got to explore together.
The refrigerator has a never-ending art show and favorite photos.
And just to keep it real, this is the "before" picture of the coffee mug. Unfortunately such a big saucer makes a great landing place for bits and pieces that need to be out of reach, but with no real home!

Important addendum: as my husband was reading this post over my shoulder, he pointed out that a more accurate title might read "corners of my hubby's home {kitchen}" since he literally does 98.7% of the cooking and baking, and when we first moved into our home he renovated the kitchen from the studs up. But I think my 72% of the dish-doing, and that
really, really clean floor counts for something!
